As if the Mustang, possibly one of the most popular and recognized Ford cars of all time, needed any more hype than it already has. Now, a new study reports that teens prefer the Ford Mustang when it comes time for them to choose their first car.
One teen – Dan Vanderlip, Jr. – fell in love with the Ford Mustang in his early teenage years. He was bound and determined to buy one when he got his license. So he saved and saved by working in the family business and investing his money wisely. (Heck, I’m twice his age and I can’t even save like that!) When he turned 16, he was just short of the money he needed to buy his dream car. He was about to sell his rare baseball cards to make up the difference, but his dad stopped him from doing that and helped him with the money instead.
According to a Teenage Research Unlimited (TRU) survey, Vanderlip isn’t alone. Many other teens love the Ford Mustang. Robert Parker, a marketing manager at Ford, attributes the allure of the Mustang to its iconic nature in our culture. “The Mustang is a part of Americana; it is a part of our culture and who we are.” He went on to explain the widespread allure for all ages: “It’s the kind of car that makes you feel different when you’re driving it, whether you’re a teenager or not.”
Another reason the Mustang is popular among younger drivers is its price tag. With many models costing less than $20,000, the Ford Mustang is in reach for many teenagers and parents who want to help them get the car they love.
Is it any wonder why one out of every two sports cars sold in the United States is a Stang?
The Mustang is undoubtedly the most popular brand of Ford cars ever made. It’s not only a car, it’s an entire culture. Many Mustang-owners eat, sleep and breathe Mustang. With the new Mustang for Men, they can even have a smell reminiscent of the car they love.

Did you know that the Ford Motor Company is only planning on producing only about 45,000 Mustangs for the 2009 model season? That’s exactly what the Mustang marketing manager, Fritz Wilkes estimated in a recent article.
Of course, the 45,000 Mustangs could be symbolic of the car’s 45th anniversary of the first model. When you think about it, though, it’s probably more likely that Ford is doing this to recognize the momentous anniversary. That’s because Dearborn typically produces more than 80,000 of these popular Ford cars each year. So the 45,000 is just over half of the automaker’s normal production.
The history of the Mustang dates back to 1964 when a Ford product manager – Donald N. Frey – conceived the idea. The person who moved forward with the idea, however, is someone you might recognize – Lee Iacocca – the Ford Division general manager. The prototype for the Mustang had only two seats. But that later turned to a four-seat vehicle. It was also based largely on other popular Ford models, including the Ford Fairlane and the Falcon. The suggested price for the first model year was only about $2,400.
When the 1971-1973 models departed from the original 1964 model, Ford received hundreds of complaints from proud Mustang-lovers who wanted the original specifications back. It just shows how the Mustang’s popularity has always been huge.
The Mustang is one of the most popular Ford cars of all time. They’ve been depicted in movies and there’s an entire culture of Mustang-lovers throughout the world. Since the Mustang market such a huge and successful market, the engineers at the Ford Motor Company are anxious to hear the concerns of Mustang owners to help keep it one of the most popular cars in the world.
To find out what Mustang owners wanted in upcoming models, Ford’s chief Mustang engineer gathered 40 members of his team to do some research. They flew from Dearborn, Michigan to Tampa, Florida where there are more Mustang owners than anywhere else in the world. They interviewed about 70 performance car owners, including several Dodge Charger Owners and GTO owners as well.
The team from Ford identified themselves as a general marketing group so people would be honest with their interview answers. They compared the answers from Mustang owners with the answers from other performance car owners to see if the former was more passionate about their vehicles. Is there any surprise that Mustang owners were much more passionate when talking about how great their cars are? Overall, they were extremely satisfied with their Ford Mustangs.
In addition to that, the researchers also found the majority of complaints coming from owners of other performance vehicles that weren’t made by Ford. According to Ronnie Ahmad, a Ford product specialist, the experience was encouraging in that it was “very interesting to hear the pride in Mustang owners’ voices.” He went on to say that one woman compared her Mustang to a Transformer because it “makes her feel like a superhero.”
With this type of passion and dedication, is it any wonder why the Ford Mustang is one of the most recognized icons of the American auto industry?
Everybody has an excuse for not going to church on Sunday morning. Some people are too tired because they were up late Saturday night. Others have to work. Still others just say they don’t want to go. But maybe Charles Ales can change that – at least for Ford Mustang owners.
Ales, a resident of Frogtown, Kansas, is a huge fan of the Mustang, one of the most popular Ford cars ever made. In fact, he told the local newspaper that his love for the Mustang “borders on a religion.” That’s exactly why he built a church where Mustang enthusiasts like him can gather to share their passion.
This isn’t just some whim, either. Ales actually applied for and received an ordination certificate from the Universal Ministry School of Theology. He also built a church and museum dedicated to the adoration of these iconic cars. His ministry revolves around the Mustang combined with some elements from the Bible.
If you’re excited about attending the church, you’ll have to wait until the autumn. It doesn’t officially open until August or September. Ales hasn’t released too many details about when services are going to be held or what those services will entail, either. But there is a mural behind the pulpit of Jesus sitting behind the wheel of a 1966 Ford Mustang.
“I hope Jesus has a sense of humor,” Ales told the newspaper reporter. I’m guessing that if he doesn’t, Ales should hope that he can take his Mustang with him when he dies…and make sure the air conditioner is working.

Imagine going off to war for 15 months and leaving all of your friends and family behind. For some soldiers, that’s bad enough. But imagine also leaving your prized Ford Mustang behind, too.
That’s the horror that Army Captain John Pelican went through when he left for Afghanistan many months ago. When he returned home to North Carolina, he was given a hero’s welcome from his adoring family and friends. But there was one things missing – his 1968 Mustang. His mom told him it was in the shop to get the radiator repaired.
That was only half the story.
Before he came back, his loved ones chipped in to get his Mustang completely restored to the days of its original glory. When he Pelikan finally saw the newly-restored car, he couldn’t believe it. The car that he inherited from his family when he graduated high school looked even better than it did all those years ago. It glimmered in the sun as his eyes welled up with gracious tears.
Much like other Mustang owners and owners of other Ford cars, Pelikan takes great pride in his vehicle. He put a great deal of work into the vehicle and, as he states, each major improvement he made represents a major step in his life. He’s driven it cross-country four times and it has more than 200,000 miles on it.
In total, 42 people contributed to donate a total of $16,000 for its restoration. The owner of the restoration shop added another $4,000, making the grand total about $20,000.

Are you a racing fan? If so, it will delight you to learn that your favorite Ford vehicle, the Mustang, will be racing in the Challenge for the Miller Cup soon. But there’s more to it than that. The three-part TV series will capture all of the racing action in high definition.
The program follows the cars and drivers through the eight races in the series. High-definition cameras will capture the action from the inside of each vehicle and will also surround the tracks. If you thought the races came alive in your living room before, wait until you watch them in HD!
The program will also interweave stories with the racing action. Camera crews will follow the racing teams from the day they take delivery of their race cars throughout the whole series, both on and off the track. Ford and the network showing the series think this is going to be a popular feature for car lovers because the race is open to any of the 77 buyers who purchased an FR500S Mustang. And with a price of $75,000 for the car, who wouldn’t want to get the most use out of it?
Although it might not be the next American Idol or The Apprentice, this program will certainly be another addictive reality show for me. I’m just hoping the HD cameras catch some glimpses of the pretty ladies in attendance as well.
