Four Myths about Hybrid Cars

moToday, it seems like everybody’s jumping on the hybrid bandwagon. More and more people are turning to this eco-friendly form of transportation to save gas and the environment. But there are still some who refuse to change their mind. If this describes you, read the following myths about current hybrids and you might just change your mind.

1. Hybrids don’t have much power.
This was once true when hybrid vehicles came out. Today, however, hybrids have just as much power as most other vehicles. In fact, some hybrid models can even accelerate as fast as most gasoline-powered vehicles. Besides, power usually equals decreased efficiency. And who wants that nowadays?

2. Hybrids are too expensive.
Again, this was true when hybrids first came out. But when you factor in tax credits and fuel prices, hybrids can actually save you money within a few short years. Also, hybrids retain a greater amount of their resale value. And that figure just increases as gas prices continue to go up.

3. Hybrids need to be plugged in to charge
Although some of the newer electric cars run solely on electricity, nearly all hybrids have a mechanism that charges the batteries during braking. As a result, plugging the car in is simply not necessary with today’s hybrid.

4. Hybrids have expensive batteries
Even though hybrid batteries might be expensive, most car manufacturers give their hybrids warranties that last up to 10 years. Since most people don’t keep their cars that long anyways, you may never need to pay for replacing the battery. The batteries seem to be durable, too. One taxi driver drove his hybrid taxi for nearly 200,000 miles and his battery is still going strong!

With all of these myths dispelled, it’s never been a better time to find a hybrid model of your favorite Ford cars. Check one out today and stop “breaking the bank” at the gas station!

Take a Look at the New 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid

ford dealerAfter a long, successful run, it seems as though diesel fuel is on the way out, according to Kelley Blue Book. It seems that 40 percent of people surveyed indicated that they would opt for a hybrid car.

Enter the 2008 Ford Escape hybrid, an SUV that will have the trees hugging YOU for a change.

The Escape hybrid is a compact-class SUV. It recently received a full makeover and a new body design to keep it looking good and help it slip through the wind. The Escape already consistently brought home awards for being one of the best SUVs on the market – this model isn’t going to disappoint fans, either.

A recent powertrain upgrade brought 230 horsepower motion to the Escape, and Ford has added a six-speed automatic drive to make riding down the highway even easier than it was before. The front end was revised and lowered down, and a new tire design improved aerodynamics and stability. The less resistance your Escape has, the more you save on fuel.

There’s even a capless fuel-filling option included, to make those times that you do have to fuel up fast and convenient.

The inside design is sleek and fitting for busy entrepreneurs on the go. A center console box big enough to fit a laptop with removable bins takes the stage, and the impressive fit and finish of the interior makes the Escape look good inside and out.

Safety features on the Ford Escape include traction control, stability control and even a reverse-sensing parking system. The rest of security is perfect, with anti-lock breaks, front seat side airbags and a full-length head curtain airbags with a rollover sensor.

This hot SUV outclasses all the rest with its new technology, great looks and stunning performance. There’s no need to drive a gas-guzzling bulldozer to get power that takes you places - the 2008 Ford Escape hybrid does it all, and it doesn’t leave any nasty emissions lying around either.

Ford Plant Donates Hybrids

ford hybridsHave you ever seen the show Beach Patrol? If not, it’s a reality TV show that’s much like Cops. But this show follows the lifeguards and security guards that patrol the beaches of Miami and other coastal cities.

Now, some of those people who safeguard the beaches will be getting some new hybrid SUVs as a donation from the Ford Motor Company. These popular and efficient Ford vehicles are going to the beaches in Los Angeles County to help its protectors keep the peace and save lives. And they are a gift from the Claycomo Ford Plant in Kansas City, Missouri.

Los Angeles County is happy to receive 45 new Ford Escape hybrids that were all products of the Claycomo plant. According to one of the chief lifeguards in the area, Ford receives some marketing and advertising benefits from this decision. But that’s the only thing the automaker is getting in return. The chief lifeguard also stated the hybrid SUVs are exactly what his crew needs on the beach.

In anticipation of the donation, several of the area’s lifeguards received an exclusive tour of the Claycomo plant earlier this month. They actually had the opportunity to watch plant workers building their new bright yellow SUVs right before their eyes.
Ford expects to deliver the SUVs to the Los Angeles beaches in late May.

Green Police Cars Coming Soon!

ford vehiclesPolice departments love Ford vehicles. In fact, the Ford Motor Company has more than 80 percent of that specific market. That’s why the automaker has had to find ways to make its police-issue vehicles better for the environment.

(Okay, so they’re not going to be green literally. But they will be safer for the environment).
The 2008 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor models feature the technology to use flexible fuel. As a result, they can use E85 ethanol fuel. This makes them friendlier to the environment than their previous counterparts. In addition, the new models can also use gasoline or a combination of gasoline and E85 ethanol.

With the new models, Ford has achieved something very few other automakers have accomplished: Fifty-State Certification. Much of Ford’s lineup of passenger vehicles passes the emissions standards of every state in the nation, including California. And with the strict regulations of The Golden State, that’s no small feat!

Ford has already released more than two million vehicles that operate on flexible fuel. By 2012, the automaker wants to have at least half of its entire production running on more eco-friendly fuels. You can already purchase a Ford hybrid in the Escape or the Mercury Mariner if that’s what you’re looking for. Those two represent just the first step in a long line of new and exciting improvements you’ll find at the Ford Motor Company.
