ford hybridsHave you ever seen the show Beach Patrol? If not, it’s a reality TV show that’s much like Cops. But this show follows the lifeguards and security guards that patrol the beaches of Miami and other coastal cities.

Now, some of those people who safeguard the beaches will be getting some new hybrid SUVs as a donation from the Ford Motor Company. These popular and efficient Ford vehicles are going to the beaches in Los Angeles County to help its protectors keep the peace and save lives. And they are a gift from the Claycomo Ford Plant in Kansas City, Missouri.

Los Angeles County is happy to receive 45 new Ford Escape hybrids that were all products of the Claycomo plant. According to one of the chief lifeguards in the area, Ford receives some marketing and advertising benefits from this decision. But that’s the only thing the automaker is getting in return. The chief lifeguard also stated the hybrid SUVs are exactly what his crew needs on the beach.

In anticipation of the donation, several of the area’s lifeguards received an exclusive tour of the Claycomo plant earlier this month. They actually had the opportunity to watch plant workers building their new bright yellow SUVs right before their eyes.
Ford expects to deliver the SUVs to the Los Angeles beaches in late May.
