Truck Guys vs. Environmentalists: The Battle Continues

st louisHow many times has someone told you that you’re a bad person simply because you drive Ford trucks? The “environmental police” are out in full force in recent months and nobody who drives a full-size truck is safe. But this blogger has three reasons why he’ll continue to be a car person instead of a full-scale environmentalist. Here are some highlights from his post.

1. Humans are not “blights” on the planet. We are here to use the resources to the best of our ability. Even the Egyptians realized this when they started using the Nile River for irrigation. Were they wrong for doing so? It’s impossible to live without impacting nature.

2. Humans are the dominant life form on the planet. That doesn’t mean we’re better, but we are just as important as other creatures and life on the Earth. As a result of our dominance and intellect, we realize the importance of using the resources to further the species and make our life more comfortable.

3. There’s nothing wrong with efficiency. Even though we’re using the Earth’s resources to sustain our life, we should still be responsible and use them as efficiently as possible. I doubt even the most extreme person would say we should waste the resources we have. That’s why we’re looking for more efficient alternatives to oil. But it takes time and money to find more efficient ways of doing things. So just be patient.

I couldn’t agree more with this guy. As much as I hate to hear environmentalists preach at us, they are right about one thing – don’t waste the resources. Ultimately, I think that should be our goal and I think that’s what most people these days are striving towards.

15 of the Greatest Road Trip Songs Ever! Part 3

ford dealershipJust like summer is coming to an end, so must our tribute to the greatest road trip songs ever. According to me, here are the top five songs that should be on your mix CD or MP3 player playlist to make you enjoy getting to your destination and back.

5. Hold My Hand – Hootie and the Blowfish: I’ll admit it. I’m a little partial to this song. After all, Hootie and the Blowfish is my favorite band in the whole world. I could just listen to them while driving across the country, but this song is a must even if you’re not a big fan.

4. On the Road Again – Willie Nelson: Does any song capture the road trip feeling any better than this song? Regardless of his past tax problems, Willie Nelson can make you feel the pioneering spirit.

3. Margaritaville – Jimmy Buffet:
I’m not a huge Jimmy Buffet fan, but any song about a “lost shaker of salt” is brilliant.

2. I Would Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That) – Meatloaf: I know this choice probably made a few people chuckle, but you can try to figure out what he won’t do for love while you’re driving.

1.American Pie – Don McLean: I don’t even think I need to say anything else about this song. It’s an anthem and it’s like 14 minutes long. By the time you’re done singing this song, your trip might be over.

Is there anything better than driving one of your favorite Ford cars and listening to some of the best songs ever made? I think not. Give these songs a listen and enjoy the rest of your summer!
