More Gas-Saving Tips

By now, you’re probably sick of all the stories about how to save gas. Every news station, website and stranger on the street is giving you ways to cut down on your fuel usage. But it’s been awhile since we’ve posted some gas-saving tips for owners of Ford trucks. So if you’re still hungry for some, here are a few you may not have heard yet.
1. Change your air filter. The cleaner your air filter, the better your gas mileage is going to be. As a general rule, replace it after 30,000 miles or, at the very least, get your air filter cleaned. Dirty air filters cut down on the engine’s air and cause it to burn more fuel.
2. Fill up your tank in the morning. Some experts say this doesn’t help much, but others claim it does. They say the fuel is denser in the morning and as the day goes on, it expands. That means more gas in your tank for less money.
3. Go the speed limit. Driving faster than necessary and driving aggressively eats away at your safety and your fuel economy. Use a safe and constant speed and you’ll notice a change in your fuel usage.
4. Inflate your tires properly. Tires that need air can cause your engine to work harder. But tires with too much air are dangerous. Be sure your four wheels have the proper amount of pressure for optimum fuel economy and safety.
5. Lose weight. The more weight your truck is carrying around, the worse your fuel economy.
Using these tips isn’t going to save you hundreds of dollars a month. But in today’s financial climate, every little bit helps.
