Ford Trucks Eco-Friendly in More Ways than One

moWhoever said that Ford trucks were “for the birds” was right…in a way. Workers at an Orange County Ford dealer in southern California found a bird’s nest in the base of the windshield of a red F150 earlier this month. After inspecting the situation further, Paul Corrigan, the floor manager, found that the bird laid two eggs in the nest.

Instead of trying to move or disturb the nest, Corrigan said they would simply leave the nest alone until the eggs hatch. In fact, he’s even played with the idea of putting a bird feeder and a water bath near the truck so the bird has all the luxuries it needs without flying far from home.

Even though some buyers have made offers on the truck, Corrigan hasn’t been tempted to sell it. “That’s probably never going to happen again in a lifetime,” Corrigan said about the nest. “I’ve seen rabbits and possums, but for a bird to build its nest right there is something special.” The dealership roped off the area so troublemakers won’t disturb the nest. Since then, it’s become a fun conversation piece for the sales representatives and the customers.

“It’s a new birth for Ford,” Corrigan said. “It makes people more comfortable while they’re here.”
