Who Wants to Go to Ford Mustang Church?

Everybody has an excuse for not going to church on Sunday morning. Some people are too tired because they were up late Saturday night. Others have to work. Still others just say they don’t want to go. But maybe Charles Ales can change that – at least for Ford Mustang owners.
Ales, a resident of Frogtown, Kansas, is a huge fan of the Mustang, one of the most popular Ford cars ever made. In fact, he told the local newspaper that his love for the Mustang “borders on a religion.” That’s exactly why he built a church where Mustang enthusiasts like him can gather to share their passion.
This isn’t just some whim, either. Ales actually applied for and received an ordination certificate from the Universal Ministry School of Theology. He also built a church and museum dedicated to the adoration of these iconic cars. His ministry revolves around the Mustang combined with some elements from the Bible.
If you’re excited about attending the church, you’ll have to wait until the autumn. It doesn’t officially open until August or September. Ales hasn’t released too many details about when services are going to be held or what those services will entail, either. But there is a mural behind the pulpit of Jesus sitting behind the wheel of a 1966 Ford Mustang.
“I hope Jesus has a sense of humor,” Ales told the newspaper reporter. I’m guessing that if he doesn’t, Ales should hope that he can take his Mustang with him when he dies…and make sure the air conditioner is working.
