The Ford Motor Company continues to add new features to its upcoming models to compete with other brands. Last month, the automaker announced some details about its new Smart Alert system.

At the risk of mentioning a competitor, some have described the new Smart Alert system as Onstar for Ford. With it, you can unlock your doors remotely, track your vehicle if it’s stolen and integrate the SYNC system into your driving experience.

Here are some other features you can expect with the Smart Alert system:

Early Theft Detection
This allows you to set an invisible “fence” that protects your Ford vehicles from being stolen.

History and Tracking
You can see where your vehicle has been lately, and you can even find out where it is at any given moment. This is handy if you let your teenager take your vehicle out for a date and you find out it’s parked at Lover’s Lane.

Speed Alerts
Pre-set your vehicle’s maximum speed, and your car will send you notifications when it exceeds that limit. You can receive notifications online or through your phone.

Monthly Reports
Your vehicle will send you monthly status reports regarding your mileage, fuel usage, maximum speed and driving time for the last month.
