ford vehiclesThe Ford Motor Company is set to team up with Sony, a powerhouse in the electronic entertainment industry, to offer a brand new in-car system for the Ford Flex models.

The details about what the in-car system will include are rather sketchy at this time. However, the Sony Style Store on Madison Avenue did allow some lucky and curious customers to get a glimpse of the new system late last month. The event only lasted for two hours, though. If you blinked, you missed it. Sony passed out cards for free music downloads to the first 150 lucky people who wanted to see the new system.

Until now, the only relationship between Ford and Sony involved factory-installed speakers in some of the Ford vehicles. This new deal, however, is a long-term agreement between the two companies for audio equipment in many of the Ford and Mercury brands in the North American market.

The Ford Flex is the automaker’s new crossover model that features the convenience of an SUV and the handling and smaller size of a regular vehicle. It’s not Ford’s first venture into the crossover market, though. The Escape and Edge are also two popular models for the company.

The only thing we know for sure is that the system will include the ever-popular SYNC system and SIRIUS Satellite Radio. We’ll see if there’s anything else in store as officials release more reports about this exciting deal.
